An exciting new allergy study is about to commence at a local vet clinic and vets are calling for canine & feline candidates. The most common causes of itchiness are external parasites (fleas & mites) and allergies. Allergic skin disease is extremely common in dogs & the number of allergic dogs is only increasing. Anyone who suffers from hay fever will know how frustrating allergies can be. An itchy pet is frustrating for vets and clients alike, not to mention how irritating it must be for the animal to be scratching all the time!

Veterinarians have a number of tools to help uncover the triggers for your pets? itch. Canobolas Family Pet Hospital now offer an exciting new technology called "Allergen Immunotherapy". This technology allows them to identify which allergens are causing the problem & then provide a series of vaccinations to desensitize your pet to these itchy triggers, without resorting to drugs.

There are four kinds of pet allergies: fleas, airborne (tree, grass and weed pollen; mould, mildew and dust mites), food and contact (like carpeting or detergent). Fleas are the most common cause of allergies. Just one flea bite on one day can cause an allergic pet to be itchy for the rest of the week.
