Thank you for visiting our website - we would like to extend a warm welcome to you & your pets.

Our motto is healthcare from your pet?s point of view.

We are targeting

Open 7 days: We are open for consultations 7 days a week. Weekdays are our surgery days.

Facebook: Our facebook page is very popular - bringing animal related news daily from within the clinic, Orange and from around the world, quizzes with prizes and handy petcare information. Have a look..

The same vet each time: We know how important it is that you have trust in the relationship with your vet, so we attempt to have you see the same vet everytime you walk in the door. If due to circumstances or the emergency nature of the problem you don't see your own vet, we make sure your vet is fully aware of what has happened.

The same staff each time: Our staff take pride in knowing you and knowing your pet. We try to have continuity of care so that we know all about your pet and you pet knows us. We have nurses who are professionals and who have made veterinary nursing their career, not part-time or casual staff. The other thing you might notice is that most have been with us a long time meaning they know you, they know your pet and they know what they are doing.

Huge online library: Visit our online library of useful articles on dogs, cats, horses, other pets, bahaviour, diet and drugs. We have thousands of articles written by some of the most knowledgeable vets in the world. Don't ask Dr Google - ask us!

Central location: Located opposite Woolworths petrol station in William St just off Bathurst Road.See map.

Afterhours: Pets can fall sick at any time of the day or night. So to offer you the best possible care, we are now available 7 days a week, and on-call 24 hours a day.See our consultation hours.

News

Welcome to the New Year, 2012, time goes so quickly!

In 2011 we had great year.Last year Lisa spent time in New Zealand with skin specialist Many Burrows, Geoff was in Queensland with surgical specialist Geoff Robins and spent the start of the year working with Regeneus to bring Stem cell technology to Orange. Both are currently enrolled in Masters degrees.

In 2012 we have a few surprises in store for everyone. We think it will be our best year yet!

This year we have set ourselves the goals of:

  • more personalised care for you - getting to see the same vet all the time.
  • looking after the oldies - extending our geriatric care schedules.
  • offering many free services - frequently as part of our ongoing research programmes in partnership with Massey University and Regeneus Pty Ltd, but often just because we can squeeze some companies for a little extra. In 2011 we had free geriatric check ups, free arthritis screening radiographs and due to the generous support of Boeringher, our Feline Aids testing across Orange. Look out this year for research trials in some new, non-drug anti-arthritis treatments.
  • having our clients being more involved in the clinic.
  • pricing our routine services, such as vaccinations and desexing, at the lowest possible price.
  • attacking the obesity epidemic occuring in our pets.
  • the best possible equipment and skill levels. Look out this year for new methods in treating arthritis, hyperthyroidism in cats and some unique, modern imaging techniques not seen in this area before as well as the knowledge that comes with postgraduate qualifications.

Our facebook page is going great guns with over 800 odd friends at the moment and gunning for 900. We try and  find things which are informative, funny, weird, educational or all of the above.

We welcome Emily Priest to our work family. Emily is a veterinary nurse who will be mostly doing surgical nursing with us.

Information night

We have a number of people who have registered interest in an information night on our facebook page. Every day we have people calling about many of the new services we are offering such as stem cells, immunotherapy, cruciate surgery and old age care. If we can get enough interest we will put on a night and talk about any topic you would like.
If interested go to our facebook page and register interest and make some suggestions on topics you would like to hear about.

Breed specific legislation

This is aways a hot topic and it really gets people's emotions up. Unfortunately for the argument, many anti-legislation people become aggressive and threatening when they feel their dogs are threatened, thereby in the eyes of many negating their arguments.
Here is some solid information to substitute for aggression next time you want to go on the attack against breed specific legislation.

1) Dr Kersti Seksel's original report to the government.

How to stick to your New Years weight loss resolution

Australians will spend $745.6 million this financial year on counselling, low-calorie foods and pulling on leashshakes, diet cookbooks and guides, dietary supplements, lap bands and liposuction, an IBISWorld industry report estimated.

About 62 per cent of adult Australians are overweight.

For many of us, the best piece of exercise equipment is standing by the door, with his leash in his mouth - no enrollment fees or installment payments required.

Your dog can be many things to you: your pal, playmate, bodyguard - and personal trainer. Numerous studies have shown that dog owners are more physically active than people with other pets and those with no pets at all. But over the past few years, it's become difficult to ignore the fact that dogs in this country are becoming overweight, just like their owners, and for the same reasons: too much food and not enough exercise.

You'll save time. Your already-packed to-do list leaves you no time to get to the gym, but exercising with your dog takes little preparation or planning.

You have a built-in workout buddy. Once your dog knows that you're willing to walk, he'll be as bossy as a boot-camp drill sergeant about getting you going. Nudge-nudge-bark-bark, here's the leash, and there's the door. And your dog will never dump you because he doesn't feel like working out, is too busy or got a better offer.
