No Description                                                        Childrens Python

Snakes make great pets, if you get the right species, and one of the best is the Childrens python. Named after Dr Childrens who first described it - and you thought I had a problem with apostrophes!
The picture is from when Geoff took his pet python in to see Janice McGilchrist on the morning show at the local ABC radio. Very bravely she decided to give it a pat.

Childrens pythons are very easy to take care of. A fish tank, the right substrate (butchers paper is fine), a heat and UV light source, some water and a mouse every 2 weeks in summer and every 4 weeks or so in winter. They never really become friendly but don't resent being handled.

This one had a heat source that was too hot and too low and it got burnt. Reptiles don't have a lot of pain receptors in their skin so burns like this are not uncommon because they don't move out of the way. Burns like this one can be very serious. Reptiles heal

This one was treated with antibiotics and evenually healed up.
