Second Opinion/G.P.Referral Service

We dont just see our own patients but many referrals from other clinics. We offer many services that your average veterinary clinic doesn't - to both our primary patients and referrals from other veterinary clinics in Orange and across the Central West.

We are also happy to give a second opinion on any case and work with the original veterinarian to give the best quality care for your pet. Tyical cases include both orthopedic and soft tissue surgery, skin conditions, ultrasonography and stem cell therapy.

Cruciate Surgery : We are now able to offer a new technique, the triple tibial osteotomy , a very effective method for cruciate repairs for dog over 20 kgs, especially young, active breeds: until recently this procedure was only available in Specialist Centres. Read more....

Fracture repair and orthopedic surgery: If your dog has a broken bone we offer the latest techniques in fracture repair with the added advantage of DR digital radiography - allowing us to watch the surgery progress with x-rays. The vets at Canobolas Pet Hospital have post graduate qualifications in surgery that ensure your pet gets the best of treatment.

Allergy clinics: Allergy is a common cause of skin disease causing itchiness in dogs and cats. Atopic skin disease is one common type of allergy and a reaction by an individual animal to environmental aeroallergens such as pollens from grasses, weeds, trees, mould spores and house dust mite. Dogs that are itchy are miserable.Allergen specific immunotherapy with an allergy vaccine is the preferred method of treatment for canine and feline atopic dermatitis and involves using a vaccine that is made specifically for your pet on the basis of the skin and serum allergy test results. Outside of the major cities we are the only clinic in NSW to offer this service. Read more....

Stem cell therapy: The results thus far in treating dogs with arthritis using stem cells have been astonishing. Using the dog's own tissues to cure them of disease is the first of what will be called the regenerative era of medicine. Read more....

Soft tissue surgery: with a Membership of the Australian College of Veterinary Scientists in surgery and a Master's degree in veterinary studies, Geoff is able to offer second opinions and referral surgeries for such complicated surgeries as perineal urithrostomies, total ear canal ablations & bulla osteotomies for intractable ear infections, as well as advanced abdominal surgery including tumour removal, subtotal colectomies for constipated cats & cholecystoduodenotomy & cystotomies. Other procedures on offer are skin flaps for tumour removals, degloving injuries, trauma & non-healing wounds.

Second opinions and referrals need a half hour consultation

If possible records from the referring vet should be transferred prior to the consultation for review.
