Rosewood Oval

·        It is not at all enclosed and it is difficult to distinguish between the leash free area and the main sporting oval.

·        It is fairly small in size compared to other leash free area’s

·        Has shaded area’s but no seating or rubbish bins

·        is near to roads and quite close to homes

A large open area on the north side of town there is a cricket oval next door with toilets availible. A great area to play frisbee or with a tennis ball while the kids ride their bikes around because there is lots of clear space.

Paul Park

·        Not enclosed but is a very large area with lots of shade and grassy areas but has the potential for snakes in summer.

·        There is a  Creek to swim in but it is surrounded by long grass and is more mud than water

·        Close to surrounding homes and has conveniently placed garbage bins

·        Next to two quite roads and one busy road

Just off Burrendong way it is a long thin area which really allows your dogs to stretch out for a run. The creek gives them plenty to investigate with their nose too. A place to exercise mind and body. Expect your dog to come home from here exhausted in mind and body but possibily quite muddy.

Wirrabarra Walk

·        Not fully enclosed and enters/ exits on two extremely busy roads.

·        It has a clearly marked long path but isn’t very wide so there isn’t a lot of open space for the dog to run around.

·        It’s a very shaded walk way which would be popular for people with or without dogs.

·         Has garbage bins at the entrance and exit.

·        Because the walk way is very narrow it may make some dogs feel very constricted which might result in aggression towards on coming dogs.

One of the most pleasant places for a sedate sunday afternoon walk. It is located on the western side of town along the edge of Duntryleague golf course. There is a concrete path which is perfect for the littlies to ride their bikes along. One word of warning is that because it is narrow and its popularity interactions with other dogs are common. So be prepared to put your dog back on a leash if necessary

Pilcher Park

·        This park is a well shaded area but does has a large amount of long grass which could be prone to snakes in summer.

·        It’s not fully enclosed but has a very secluded area in the middle it does however enter/ exit onto a busy road.

·        Has a very large area which backs onto houses and a designated walking path which enter/exits at various intervals.

·        It does have a limited swimming area but majority of the creek is swampy with long grass and reeds.

·        Also has seating and rubbish bins.

Great park which is centrally located next to Emu's rugby field. Lots of interesting things here for dogs with a creek and lots of wildlife to sniff out. While not fully enclosed it is a releatively safe area to let your dogs go off the leash. Expect your dog to come home from here ecstatic but pleasantly muddy.

Bloomfield Park

·        It is not entirely enclosed but a very secluded park which is approximately 5 minutes out of Orange and not close to any major roads.

·        It has very long grass and bushland all the way through which could be prone to snakes in summer but has a large area in the centre and various creeks for swimming.

·        It also has some confined walkways which could make some dogs feel constricted resulting in aggression and is very popular in afternoons.

·        It has a designated path all the way through which has garbage bins and seating a various points.

The king of leash free areas. Located on the south of town just past Bloomfield hospital this park is almost perfect for a place to take your dog for a walk. It is very large, has lots of creeks and a pathway all around. Wildlife such as kangaroos, frogmouths, parrots and of course snakes are plentiful.

A few hundred metres up the road is Gosling creek picnic area where there are gas fired BBQs and lots of kids play equipment.

Ridley Oval

·       This park actually states that all dogs should be on a lead at all times and doesn’t show anywhere that it is a leash free area.

·       It isn’t enclosed and enter/exits onto a major road.

·       It has large aggressive dogs in the houses that surround the designated walking path but there is a fairly large area at one end.

·       It has a creek to swim in but long grass does surround it.

·       Has a well shaded walk way

A very central area located between Electrolux and Bathurst Rd. It isnt used as much as some of the other parks so is a good place if your dog isnt so sociable with other dogs.
